For the making of the video installation, Silicon Success, we followed the journey of silicon, from its extraction in Bhutan to its use in Silicon Valley microchips. The video contrasts the material’s use in technology with its more everyday applications, such as in kitchenware and cosmetic implants. By presenting these two opposing narratives, the installation raises questions about the geopolitical and economic forces that shape how materials like silicon are understood and utilized across different industries.
